Mediation

Reconcilable Differences

Longstanding disagreements leave people feeling exhausted and cynical about positive change. For many years, I have helped clients navigate challenging disagreements as a family/couples therapist and coach, and have adapted these skills to help with compassionate conflict resolution. Many of my clients are dealing with difficult professional or family dynamics; some are party to high-conflict divorces or lawsuits.

If you are seeking resolution with your current or former romantic partner, family, colleague, or team, I assist with pre and post-marital, family estate, and group negotiations, including collaborating with other professionals and community services if needed. This includes emotional and practical support to individuals moving through overwhelming legal, medical, divorce, professional, and academic crises.

The Relationship Remedies page offers solutions for those in closer emotional relationships where there is less conflict. The same solutions are available in the Courageous Conversations pre-recorded video class. In mediation, there is room for some productive sharing of feelings, but we prioritize practical and fair agreements that include communication agreements to prevent overly intense or blocked communication. Parties create safe communication guidelines that prevent emotional triggers.

Sound Agreements

The process balances firm management of conflict and objective progress towards agreements, using proven strategies to break though impasses. It validates each person's perspective while being mindful of facts and fairness. We work together to create equitable, lasting agreements. They can be folded into family, estate, and business law documents - either with attorneys - or with self-help (pro se) processes. The process I offer is not a legal service but can minimize the risk of future litigation.
